Based in Hanoi, Vietnam the International Centre for R&D of Satellite Navigation Technology in South East Asia (NAVIS) is on a mission to give satellite navigation technology – particularly Galileo – a boost in the region. The 2014 edition of the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) has seen record numbers of entries – with the European GNSS Agency (GSA) Special Prize being particularly popular. The competition is now in its evaluation stage, selecting the winners that will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Berlin on 23 October.

First H2020 Call expected to generate new innovative EGNSS Applications

With new satellite launches planned for this year, Galileo is poised to move into Early Services provision by late 2014/early 2015. The next release of EGNOS is already being developed and will provide improved signal and capacity performance and increased coverage by late 2017. On top of this, the European GNSS market is rapidly expanding – both upstream and downstream. In fact, GSA analysis shows growth over the coming years to continue at nearly 10 percent of the overall GNSS market share.
